October 14-17 Moab! Club ride on October 15th in the am and open riding on the 16th.

10/4 Update!!

The Moab trip is fastly approaching. A few of us have reserved at the Archview Resort RV Campground, www.archviewresort.com, 1-800-813-6622. We should be arriving by 5pm on Friday, the 14th. You can stay there or dry dock nearby. If you plan to stay at Archview, mention Theresa Watson when reserving and they will try to put us all together. As of today they had plenty of sites left.

The club group ride will start from Archview on Sat, the 15th. The driver's meeting will be at 9am and we'll be moving out at 9:30am. Rich will be leading a ride to Eagles Perch (or is it Eagles Nest?). I'll have more details next week on the length of this ride and the difficulty.

On Sunday, no set rides. Considering trailering over to an area just northeast of the Arches park, we'll see.

Food plans. The Watson's will provide a chili dinner on Sat night for everyone. Michael makes the chili a bit spicy, but not too spicy, with kidney beans and hamburger, etc. It is yummy. Theresa will make some cornbread. They'll provide the placeware — please bring your own drinks. Bringing a sidedish is optional.

To make sure we make enough chili, please RSVP to me if you are joining us!

JULY — 2005

Date/ time Place Description Contacts
1-4 SARGENTS, COLORADO, INDIAN CREEK / MARSHALL PASS over the Continental Divide AREA

The SouthFork event was cancelled and replaced with this Sargents event
From Denver take 285 out to Buena Vista, and Springs West Side Take Hwy 24 to 285 to Buena Vista, turn South to 50 HWY, Turn right at 285 / 50 hwy junction, go west over Monarch Pass to the small town of Sargents, At the Country Store/Gas Station, make a left turn onto FR 243 about 5 miles to Indian Creek, turn left onto FR 777.

From the Downtown Springs & East you can take 115 to 50, then west to Sargents and follow above directions.

Please let me know if you are planning on sharing the Ride/Campout with us and what days you're planning to being there so we can save spots. Trails range from Difficult to Easy. Marshall Pass road is easy and smooth, Logging road was rocky and more difficult. Mountain Trails are normal mountain trails through creeks, rocks, switchbacks. We may trailer across HWY 50 and maybe ride into Pitkin for lunch one day. Those having trailers will haul the quads for those that don't have trailering ability if we choose to do that. Some of the rides will be all day rides. There were a couple of trails that we haven't been on yet.

My guestimate would be it's about 2 - 2 & 1/2 - 3 hours from the Springs, depending upon traffic, route taken, ect.

16-17 LeVeta Pass

July 16th, Saturday, 9:30 at Indian Trail /Creek Trailhead

Ted will also be riding on July 17th for those that stay over.

Sorry for the confusion over this ride. The La Veta ride will be a one day ride. We will meet at the La Veta - Indian Trail Trailhead at 9:30 to unload, leaving on ride at 10:00 a.m.

Bring Lunch, Water, & Typical Riding Apparel for Colorado Weather -- you never know what you'll run into.

South on I-25 to first exit to Walsenburg/Hwy. West on Hwy 160 for about 15 miles until you come to a sign at a T-Intersection La Veta and Cuchara Hwy 12, Travel into La Veta on Hwy 12 (about 5 miles). Keep following Hwy 12 going thourgh La Veta. Once you leave La Veta and you pass Grandote Peaks Golf Course, (8 tenths mile) take the first right (west) on County Road 421 about 7 miles to Indian Creek Trailhead.

Camping at Surphur Springs Guest Ranch is $20.00, only 5 units with water & electricity, real small camping slots that won't accommondate the rig & trailer. They are the ones that didn't want us to camp in the meadow after saying that we could. But they are an option. www.Sulphurspringsranch.com

Since we can trailer, Shelby and I are staying in town Friday & Saturday night at Log Haven Lodge & RV Park. 1-866-742-5757.
